J.J. Arrington (born January 23, 1983 in Nashville, North Carolina) is a National Football League running back for the Arizona Cardinals. He was selected in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the 44th overall pick. He played as the running back for University of California.
High school career
Arrington attended Northern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and lettered in football as a tailback.Junior College Career
J.J Arrington attended the College of the Canyons for two years. As a sophomore, he won All Region III honors(which is selected by the California Community College Football Coaches Association and the J.C Athletic Bureau) and had 135 rushing attempts for 769 yards (5.7 yards per rushing attempt average), and catching 30 passes for 320 yards (10.67 yards per reception average). His 19 touchdowns, and his 29 career touchdowns were both school records.College career
J.J Arrington transferred to California as a junior. That year, he rushed 107 times for 607 yards (5.67 yards per rush average), caught 21 passes for 178 yards (8.48 yards per reception average), and returned 2 kickoffs for 39 yards (19.5 yards per kickoff return). As a senior, he rushed 289 times for 2,018 yards (7 yards per carry average), with 15 touchdowns. That year, he also caught 21 passes for 121 yards (5.8 yards per reception average). His 2,018 yards led the nation in rushing and is 10th best all time, and he won All-America honors, All-Pacific 10 Conference honors, and as a senior, he was given the Pop Warner Award, which is given to the top player on the West Coast.NFL Combine Results
