JJY is the callsign of a longwave time signal radio station similar to WWVB. The station is located in Japan, operated by a branch of the Japanese government known as the [National Institute of Information and Communications Technology]. JJY broadcasts a 50 kW signal on 40 kHz from a transmitter site on Mount Otakadoya, near Fukushima (), and a separate 50 kW signal on 60 kHz from a transmitter site on Mount Hagane (), located on Kyushu Island. Both carrier signals contain an identical pulse-width modulated time code, and are transmitted 24 hours a day. The format of this time code is not the same as that used by WWVB.
