Jacques Roumain

Jacques Roumain (June 4, 1907 – August 18, 1944) was a Haïtian writer and communist politician.
Born in Port-au-Prince, he was active in the struggle against U.S. occupation. In 1934 he founded the Haïtian Communist Party. One of his more famous works is "Les Gouverneurs de la Rosée", which sold less than a thousand copies the year it was published.
He died from a heart attack at the age of 37.
