James T. Walsh

Walsh was born in Syracuse, New York and he graduated from St. Bonaventure University. Walsh was elected to the Syracuse common council. Walsh ran as a Republican and won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1988. Walsh has been re-elected without difficulty, except for in 1996 when he was challenged by Cortland attorney Marty Mack and only won by a 55%-45% margin.
Walsh received an "F" on the Drum Major Institute's 2005 [Congressional Scorecard] on middle-class issues.
Walsh is a member of The Republican Main Street Partnership and supports embryonic stem cell research. He is also a member of Republicans For Environmental Protection
In 2006 he is running for re-election against Democratic opponent Dan Maffei.
