Jameson Whiskey
Encyclopedia : J : JA : JAM : Jameson Whiskey
Jameson is an Irish whiskey. The company was founded by John Jameson, who built his whiskey distillery in Dublin in the year 1780. The Cork Distillers company joined forces with their rivals John Jameson and John Powers to form the Irish Distillers Group in 1966. The Midleton distillery built by Irish Distillers now produces most of the Irish Whiskey sold in Ireland.
Jameson Irish whiskey is produced from a mixture of malted and unmalted Irish barley. The barley is then dried in a closed kiln fired by clean-burning anthracite coal to preserve its clean malty flavors. Jameson whiskey is triple distilled. The company's motto "Sine Metu" means "Without Fear".
The Jameson brand is owned by French drinks conglomerate Pernod Ricard.
