Jan Breytenbach

-->Jan Breytenbach is the founding commander of 1 Reconnaissance Commando - the forerunner of the present Special Forces Brigade of the SANDF and the equivalent of the British SAS (Special Air Service) in South Africa. He also founded 32 Battalion, known colloquially as Buffalo Battalion.
Brother of South African poet Breyten Breytenbach.
