The bassist of the Filipino pop/rock band Rivermaya who has taken over the role of Nathan Azarcon when the latter left the band in March 2001. Known to many as JP, Japsuki, or Japs, Sergio was born on the 20th day of August 1979. He is actually a drummer. He is also one of the founders of the band Daydream Cycle and is presently the guitarist of the band.

He graduated last 2000 with a degree in AB Human Resources Management at De La Salle University, College of St. Benilde.

His musical influences are Stereolab, Air, Cocteau Twins, Medicine, Aphex Twin, Lush, Radiohead, Pale Saints, Corduroy, Jamiroquai, Smashing Pumpkins, Self, Hum, U2, STP, Sonnet 158, Passage (Disco Projek), Sugar Hiccup, Gwen Stefani and a "million others".

His girlfriend was Kathy Meneses, his bandmate from Daydream Cycle.
