Jeffrey Dean Morgan (born April 22, 1966, in Seattle, Washington) is an American actor.

Career

Most of Morgan's appearances have been on episodic television. Since 2000, he has amassed a number of credits in television shows such as ER, JAG, Walker, Texas Ranger, Angel, , and Monk.

In the 2005-2006 television season, he simultaneously appeared in three television series: on the WB series Supernatural as John Winchester, the mysterious father of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles); on the Showtime series Weeds as the deceased husband of Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker); and, most notably, in a recurring role on ABC's Grey's Anatomy as heart transplant patient Denny Duquette, who carried on a relationship with intern Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and died in the show's second-season finale. (Grey's Anatomy is set in Seattle, the city where Morgan was born.)

It was announced in May 2006 that Morgan has been cast in a new project by Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. [link]
