le''' (born December 15, 1978 in Pompano Beach, Florida) is an American football defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.

Drafted by Philadelphia

McDougle was drafted in the 2003 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami, where he helped lead Miami to its 12-0 national championship season in 2001. The Eagles traded up 15 spots in the 2003 draft to obtain him, making him the first University of Miami player to be drafted by the Eagles since Jerome Brown, who was killed in a 1992 car accident. the team has made the NFL playoffs every single year, including an appearance in the 2004 Super Bowl, in which the Eagles lost to the New England Patriots.
McDougle is represented by fellow University of Miami alumnus Drew Rosenhaus, widely considered the NFL's most aggressive player representative.

NFL injuries

With the Eagles, McDougle has been plagued by injuries in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In the final 2003 pre-season game, he sustained ankle, knee and hip injuries during a game against the New York Jets, forcing him to miss eight games of the 2003 season. During the 2004 season, he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, forcing him to miss one game. Later in the 2004 season, he suffered a knee sprain in a game against the Dallas Cowboys, and the Eagles declared him inactive for the subsequent four games of the 2004 season.

Shot in Miami

On July 28, 2005, just four days prior to the beginning of the Eagles 2005 training camp in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, McDougle was shot in the abdomen during an apparent robbery in Miami, Florida. He underwent emergency surgery and originally was expected to recover fully and play for the Eagles in 2005. However, further complications left him out for the entire 2005 season.
