The Jet Engine is a piece of machinery featured in the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends TV Series. It was brought to the Island of Sodor to help out in the Airfield, and Thomas the Tank Engine was to collect it. But he was impatient and made Cranky the crane cross. Cranky swung his hook and accidentally turned the jet engine on! It rocketed Thomas down the line, past Bertie the Bus, James the Red Engine and others. It pushed him along so fast, he overtook Gordon the Big Engine whilst he was pulling the Express. The jet engine soon ran out of fuel, and Thomas was safe again.

The Jet Engine was introduced in Season 6, and hasn't made any other appearances. It has, however, been released in Wooden Toy, TOMY Toy, and Take-along Toy.
