Encyclopedia : J : JI : JIN : Jindabyne (film)

Jindabyne is a 2006 film set in the Australian country town of Jindabyne. Based on the short story So Much Water So Close to Home by Raymond Carver, it tells of the discovery of a murder victim in a river by a group of men - who decide to finish their fishing trip before reporting the find days later - and the impact this has on the town's inhabitants. Gabriel Byrne and Laura Linney star amongst a predominantly Australian cast, with the film being directed by Ray Lawrence. The world premiere was part of the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

This Raymond Carver story also inspired the Paul Kelly song 'Everything's Turning To White.'
