Joachim Yhombi Opango (born 1939) is a Congolese political figure.He was his country's first general and served as President of Congo from 1977 until 1979 when he was overthrown. He later served as Prime Minister under the Lissouba regime in 1995, just before the start of one of four subsequent civil wars in the 1990s.
