John A. Rae

John A. Rae is an executive with Power Corporation of Montreal, former Liberal Party of Canada fundraiser, long-time advisor to former Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chretien and brother of Canadian politician Bob Rae.

Rae is a graduate of Queen's University in economics and political science. He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Queen's.

He has served as:

Rae's association with Chretien dates back to the late 1960s when he served as executive assistant to Chretien when he was Minister of Indian Affairs[link]. He has remained a friend and close advisor to Chretien since then in both paid and unpaid capacities.

In 2006, he encouraged his brother Bob to seek the leadership of the federal Liberals and is one of the senior architects of his campaign.

His father, Saul Rae, was a leading Canadian diplomat.
