John A. Wickham, Jr.

General John Adams Wickham (born June 25, 1928 in Dobbs Ferry, New York) was United States Army Chief of Staff from 1983 to 1987.
He was a 1950 graduate of the United States Military Academy (where he later served as a social sciences instructor, 1956 to 1960), held Master's Degrees in economics and in government from Harvard University and was a 1967 graduate of the National War College. He served in both Korea and Vietnam, and was twice awarded the Silver Star for battlefield valor, as well as the Bronze Star, 11 Air Medals and 4 Legions of Merit. He is a member of the Alfalfa Club.
