John Hampson

Encyclopedia : J : JO : JOH : John Hampson

John Hampson is the guitarist and vocalist for the band Nine Days. After So Happily Unsatisfied, the follow up to Nine Days' major release The Madding Crowd, was shelved by Sony the band took a break, giving John Hampson time to form a solo career. While John Hampson has become involved with a solo career, he has stated that Nine Days has not broken up and, in fact, are very much still a band.

Solo career

In 2003, John Hampson released the ep Seventeen Minutes and Thrity Eight Seconds In the Dark. The album had five tracks, including Ultimate Love Song and Anywhere. The ep was released by his own record label Dirty Poet Records. This had been the first time working without the help of his band-mates or a major label, and fans seemed pleased.

New album

John Hampson is currently working on a follow-up to Seventeen Minutes and Thrity Eight Seconds In the Dark, a full length (unnamed) solo album. The album has been promised for the past three years, with the release date being pushed back again and again. This is due to Hampson's busy schedule, juggling school, family, and music. Loyal fans have been patient and John Hampson contiues to do live shows (both solo and with Nine Days) and post on the Nine Days Message board through his website.

Unreleased work

A few demos of the upcomming album are on the internet for legal download, along with unreleased music by Nine Days and Brian Desveaux, band-mate of Nine Days.
