John Ling

John Ling (born September 8 1983 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a thriller writer based in New Zealand. One of Malaysia's promising young authors, he was a nominee for Most Outstanding Youth of The Year at the 2005 Dream Malaysia Awards.
His work features action and drama written in a stark, minimalist style. Common themes include brotherhood and genocide. His characters are typically conflicted men and women drawn into sinister underworlds under the watchful eye of a big brother or a father figure, only to be betrayed and left to fend for themselves, descending into moral ambiguity with no easy way out.
John Ling is currently pursuing Communications, Economics, and Political Science at the University of Otago in New Zealand.
