John Moran Bailey (1904 - 1975) was a U.S. political figure. He dominated Connecticut Democratic politics as a party boss for many years. He served as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1961 until 1968. His term as DNC Chairman was a good time for Democrats nationwide. The Presidency of John F. Kennedy, The 1964 Presidential Election which Lyndon B. Johnson won in a landslide against Republican Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, Also the 1964 U.S. Senate Election saw Democrat and former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy win the New York Senate Seat and The Re-election Of Senator Edward Kennedy in Massachusetts. The 1966 U.S. House Election and the U.S. Senate Election saw the Democrats Retain Their Majority status in the Senate, House and The Majority of Governorships. In 1968 The Republicans Nominated The Moderate/Liberal Richard Nixon again to be their Presidential nominee, the republicans quickly rallyed behind Nixon while the Democrats were more divided with Senator Eugene McCarthy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Vice President Hubert Humphrey seeking the nomination. In the end it saw Richard Nixon elected but with a Democratic Majority in the congress.

His daughter, Barbara Bailey Kennelly served in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's first congressional district. She later left the House to run for governor in a race she lost to the incumbant, John G. Rowland.

Connecticut Democrats honor him each year with their Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey Dinner.

He was educated at Harvard Law School.
