John Quiggin

John Quiggin (born 29 March 1956 in Adelaide) is an Australian economist and professor at the University of Queensland. Quiggin studied at the Australian National University, there achieving bachelor's degrees in Arts and Economics in 1978 and 1980 respectively, and further completing a master's degree in Economics in 1984. Quiggin was awarded his PhD from the University of New England in 1988. He is a prolific author, and is regularlySinha, Dipendra & Macri, Joseph, "[Rankings of Economists in Teaching Economics Departments in Australia, 1988−2000]", Economics Bulletin, Vol. 1, No. 4, pp. 1-19. among the top economists in Australia, measured by output in high-quality journals and by citation frequencies. He is best known for his work on utility theory.
