Encyclopedia : J : JO : JON : Jon Toogood

Jonathan Charles Toogood (born in Wellington, New Zealand, on August 9, 1971) is a member of the New Zealand band Shihad. He is the songwriter, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist.

He formed the band in 1988 with fellow Wellingtonian and Wellington High School student, Tom Larkin. Jon and Tom met as teenage rugby league enthusiasts. He left Melbourne, Australia, and now lives back in his home town, Wellington, New Zealand, with his wife and step-daughter. With the remaining members of Shihad still resident in Melbourne, the band now practise 'song-writing-by-distance', whereby Tom, Karl Kippenberger and Phil Knight record any new ideas they have, and then send them to Jon via mail for his contributions.

Jon plays classic 1970s Fender Telecaster Deluxe and Maton Mastersound guitars.
