Jorge Goeters

Jorge Goeters (born June 26, 1970 in San Luis PotosÃ, Mexico) was relatively unknown in the United States before NASCAR held its first points race in Mexico for the 2005 season. He is a part time driver in the NASCAR Busch Series from Mexico.
As a marketing move to build interest among the local fans, several NASCAR teams fielded one race teams driven by a native driver. Goeters, Adrian Fernandez, and several others were given one race contracts to race at home. Goeters surprised American fans and FOX telecasters by winning the pole position for the Telcel Motorola 200 in his first career start and led the first 24 laps before pitting. He had more problems later in the race, putting him out of contention for the win and ultimatly was knocking him out of the race.
He ran a couple more races during 2005, driving the #32 Chevy for Braun Racing. His best finish with Braun was a 9th at Watkins Glen International He made one Nextel Cup series race in the 2005 season at Watkins Glen International for Arnold Motorsports. He also contested a Champ Car race in Monterrey, Mexico for PKV Racing, but failed to finish.
Currently, he races full time in Mexico and will be again racing at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez when NASCAR makes its return in March of 2006 for Brewco Motorsports.
In Mexico, it was announced that Goeters will join with Jay Robinson Racingto pilot the #49 Ford, starting at Las Vegas. They would like to run a full schedule if sponsorship can be acquired. So far, however, Goeters has only made two races, and has scaled back his schedule.
Jorge is brother to Patrick and Eduardo Goeters who race in the Mexican NASCAR series.
