Josie Packard

Josie Packard is a fictional character on the 1990-1991 primetime ABC series Twin Peaks, played by Joan Chen. She is from Hong Kong, and is ethnic Chinese.
Josie is a widow (losing her much older husband, Andrew, in a boating accident) who owns the Packard Mill.
Her English is good, but she is still learning... indeed, she was taking lessons from Laura Palmer before she died. She has problems with idioms and turns of phrase - "What is 'shenanigans'?", she asks Agent Cooper at one point.
The sinister Thomas Eckhardt, enemy of her husband Andrew, is obsessively in love with Josie, and may still exert a strong influence on her.
After her husband died she started secretly seeing the town Sheriff Harry S. Truman. Her dead husband's sister, Catherine Packard Martell hates her with a passion; she is sure Josie is responsible for Andrew's demise. Catherine's husband, Pete Martell loves Josie for being a fragile beauty that she is.
But Josie is not all she seems. She has connections with the Chinese mafia, and plays both Catherine Martell, and Benjamin Horne off against one another. Catherine also knows how to use her, and turns her into a maid.
She is horrified to learn later that Andrew Packard is not actually dead. "I'm home, did you miss me?".
She is an assassin, having attempted to kill Andrew, on behalf of Eckhardt, and shooting Agent Cooper - which is also unsuccessful. When Eckhardt arrives in Twin Peaks, Andrew reveals himself to him, and says, "Josie's coming back to you... be very careful." Eckhardt doesn't take heed, and is shot by Josie in the Great Northern.
Her death is somewhat mysterious. BOB makes another appearance at it, and it seems that her soul is trapped in the wooden knob of a chest of drawers. Afterwards it is discovered that her death had caused a dramatic loss in her weight.
