Julia Zemiro is an Australian television presenter and comedian.
Early life
Julia Zemiro was born in 1967 in Aix-en Provence, France to an Algerian father and a mother from Queensland. In 1967 she moved to Australia. She attended Sydney Girls High School.Acting
In 1993, she graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts and soon found work touring with the Bell Shakespeare Company for two years. During this time, she also became a regular panellist and debater for Good News Week and as a writer/performer on Totally Full Frontal where she played over 30 characters during two seasons. She is currently a regular guest on Thank God You're Here.She has been involved in short film including The Extra and Muffled Love, winning the Best Actress award twice from Tropfest for each in 1997 and 2000 respectively. She also co-wrote, performed and directed Backpackers (La Mama, 2000 Melbourne International Comedy Festival).
As of 2005, she has hosted RockWiz on SBS. The show is now in its second series and she recently won Australia's Brainiest TV Star hosted by Sandra Sully. Zemiro is also involved in several other productions, including the comedic Eurovision Song Contest tribute Eurobeat - in which for its three seasons she has had the lead role of the compere and fictional Bosnian celebrity Bronya.
