July Ordinances

July Ordinances, also known as Ordinances of Saint-Cloud, was a series of decrees set forth by Charles X and Jules Armand de Polignac, the chief minister, in July 1830. It was intended to quell the people of France. However, the ordinances had the opposite effect of angering the French citizens. The result was the July Revolution which saw Charles X's overthrow.
The Ordinances
The ordinances were enacted to do the following:- Establish rigid control of the press
- Dissolve the newly elected Chamber of Deputies
- Disenfranchise three quarters of the available voters
- Require new elections based on the new electorate
