Encyclopedia : K : KS : KST : K-Star Wrestling (KSW)

K-Star Wrestling is a British wrestling promotion based in Birmingham. The promotion has started the careers of wrestlers like Mark Belton, Carl Mizzery, and Spud.

History

K-Star promotions was formed in October 1998 when Ex-World of Sport Wrestler Steve Logan left Hammerlock Wrestling to form his own Wrestling company. A keen Kickboxer, Steve opened one of his gyms to allow students to become professional wrestlers.

Steve used his extensive wrestling knowledge from his World of Sport days, as well as his time at the Canadian Stampede gym, to teach young wrestlers the trade.

In May 2000 K-Star Promotions ran its first wrestling show consisting entirely of gym trained wrestlers. The wrestler named Celt Kennedy became the first K-Star Champion a month later.

In February 2002, Steve Logan gave up the day to day running of the wrestling arm of K-Star promotions to concentrate on his Mui Thai Kickboxing schools.

K-Star Promotions was rebranded as K-Star Wrestling in April 2003, this led to the K-Star Champion belt being made defunct and a K-Star Wrestling British Championship replaced it, this was won in a tournament by Carl Mizzery at Walsall Town Hall two months later.

More recently Steve has become more involved in an advisory role and KSW continues to produce shows in 2006.
