K. G. George (b. at Changanacherry in Kottayam, 1946) is a Malayalam film director. He belongs to the "trained" directors who are well versed in the language of cinema and were never willing to "compromise" with the presumed low intelligence of an ordinary movie goer.
His first film was 'Swapnadnam', a very different film that was based on freudain dream interpretation.
The film which really marked him as an oustanding director was Kolangal. The portrayal of a rustic village and the snapshots of people there was amrked by a profound sense of observation. The creation had the stamp of a master director all over it.
One of his well known movies is Yavanika, an artistically made detective thriller.
Most of his movies are realistic and away from cliches. K. G. George was completely different in the way selected plots and way it was treated. Some of K. G. George's movies will disturb the audience. Examples are Mattoral and Irakal.
