Encyclopedia : K : KJ : KJQ : KJQY

KJQY or K-Joy was an easy listening music radio station based in San Diego. The call letters first appeared on May 20, 1979 when the call letters of beautiful music station KOZN-FM 103.7 were changed. It stayed at 103.7 (now 103.7 Free FM) until 1995. The station had evolved into a adult contemporary format by this time.

A couple of years later in 1997, KJQY moved to what is now KLQV 102.9, and in 1998, KJQY moved over to what is now Star 94.1 and stayed there until November 21, 2001, though by this time the format had become oldies. KJQY made a final move to 95.7, but it lasted for only six weeks until January 2, 2002, when the oldies station's call letters were changed to KOCL "Kool 95.7". In 2004 this station became country music US 95.7

As of 2006, the KJQY call letters haven't been assigned to a radio station since 2002.
