KJRH is the NBC affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. KJRH broadcasts from its studios in the trendy Brookside district in midtown Tulsa. In the Tulsa television market, KJRH consistently ranks third in the number of viewers of its newscasts, behind KTUL and KOTV. However, the station has experienced significant growth in their early-evening newscasts with the recent addition of the King World shows "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!", following their 20-year stints on KTUL. KJRH's transmitter is located in Oneta, Oklahoma.
It has the unique characteristic of being only one of two stations in the state with two doppler radars (the other is KFOR in Oklahoma City, also an NBC affiliate), the southwest Oklahoma City doppler, owned by KFOR being the most powerful at 1 million watts of power.
History
Channel 2 signed on as KVOO-TV in December, 1954. It was the third station to sign on in the Tulsa market, behind KOTV and KTVX (now KTUL). Since then the station has gone through a few callsign changes such as KTEW (call meaning: Tulsa E.W. Scripps), culminating with the current KJRH on July 14, 1980.Newscasts
