KJUL (FM)

Encyclopedia : K : KJ : KJU : KJUL (FM)

KJUL is an FM radio station licensed to Moapa Valley, Nevada, serving the Las Vegas market on 104.7 MHz with an adult standards format. KJUL is owned by Summit American, Inc.

History

The station was originally licensed in 2001 as a local (class-A) station in Moapa Valley under the callsign KBHQ. In 2005, KBHQ was upgraded to a full class-C1 facility, with 100 kW ERP, still licensed to Moapa Valley but now with a signal capable of serving the Las Vegas market. KBHQ became classic country "Willie" KWLY on July 20, 2005, and then on November 7 adopted the adult-standards format and callsign long heard on KJUL 104.3. (The KJUL callsign had been adopted by an AM station in St. George, Utah when KJUL became KCYE, and Summit had to negotiate with that station for use of the callsign.)
