KSAX and KRWF are a pair of television stations in Minnesota. The stations show the same programming, and are semi-satellites of KSTP-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul. The stations air ten-minute local inserts during KTSP's newscasts, local commerical inserts during commercial breaks, as well as some original local programming. Combined with a large network of repeater stations, the stations serve thirty counties in central and western Minnesota.
History
In 1987, they had their first news broadcast.1996 earned KSAX/KRWF the honor by the Minnesota Broadcaster's Association as Minnesota Television Station of the Year. They were also awarded the Media Best Award for Non Metro Promotion of their weather watchers campaign in the same year.
The very next year, they were awarded a Media Best Award for their hard news coverage in greater Minnesota.
They had their first local meteorologist in 2000.
In 2002, they got the Best Weekend Cooperation with the Associated Press.
In 2003, they had the Best Non-Metro News Story with the Associated Press, and they were awarded Partner in Education award by the Alexandria Chamber and District 206 schools for Kids Voting program.
In 2004, they received the MN Broadcasters Media Best Award for Bringing Community Service Home in Non-Metro TV. That year, they had their KSAX Sports Beat a full half hour, but abandoned it after 2 years.
