KTNV (Channel 13 analog, 12 digital) is a U.S. television channel. It is the ABC station serving the Las Vegas, Nevada market, and is owned and operated by Journal Broadcast Group. Its transmitter is located in Henderson, Nevada.
History
- KTNV became the third TV station in the area to transmit in HD format in May 2002.
- In 2004, KTNV became the only area TV station to fly its news helicopter at nights for the 11PM newscast.
- The station previously transmitted under the KSHO-TV callsign. It changed its callsign to KTNV-TV in 1980 (dropping the -TV suffix in 1988. [link]
- Eric Randall was employed for a short time at KTNV in the early 1980s. He later moved to KLAS-TV, becoming one of the most popular and well-known weather forecasters in Las Vegas. Nathan Tannenbaum was another popular weatherman who worked with Channel 3 KVBC Las Vegas in the 1990s. He started his Las Vegas career at KTNV in 1989, moving to KVBC in 1995 before returning to KTNV in 2000. He left KTNV in May 2006.
- KTNV used to call themselves "Channel 13 - Inside Las Vegas" and "News 13 - Inside Las Vegas". This was discontinued (and a new station logo was created) in 2003 in favor of their current ABC 13/Action News logo. The current station logo and graphics package of KTNV matches that of Journal's Wisconsin flagship stations, WTMJ (Channel 4) in Milwaukee, and Green Bay's WGBA (Channel 26); both are NBC affiliates.

KTNV's newscasts are generally called Action News. In contrast, KLAS uses Eyewitness News theme for their newscasts, but KTNV uses the produced by Frank Gari.Weekdays
