KUOW-FM (94.9 MHz) is a National Public Radio broadcaster in Seattle, Washington. It is the second most listened to radio station in the Seattle-Tacoma market [link] and the most listened to news radio station in the state.

About KUOW

KUOW's site states its mission as, "to create and serve an informed public, one challenged and invigorated by an understanding and appreciation of events, ideas, and cultures."

KUOW broadcasts from Capitol Hill in Seattle with a power of 100,000 watts. The studios are located in Seattle's University District. The station is heard in the Puget Sound region on 94.9FM, in Bellingham, Washington on 90.3FM, in Olympia, Washington on 1340AM and on the Internet at [kuow.org].

Audience

KUOW's 2004 annual report states, "KUOW served an average of 338,000 listeners each week in Fiscal Year 2004. These listeners accounted for more than 4.3 million weekly listener hours, with the core audience spending an average of 12 hours and 44 minutes per week listening to the station's programming. In Fiscal Year 2004, KUOW ranked fourth among 38 measured Seattle-Tacoma stations, with a 4.7% share of the regional radio audience."
