KWDK
Encyclopedia : K : KW : KWD : KWDK
KWDK is a Christian television station owned by the Daystar Television Network, broadcasting out of Tacoma, Washington, formerly broadcasting on channel 56. On April 22, 2005, KWDK filed an application with the FCC for authorization to cease analog broadcasting and surrender its license for channel 56 prior to the end of the digital TV transition period, and thereafter operate KWDK-DT as a single channel, digital-only television station on channel 42. The FCC granted this authorization on July 20, 2005. KWDK ceased analog broadcasting on channel 56 sometime in April 2006.
According to a DayStar representative, DayStar programming can be seen in Seattle on low-powered TV outlet KUSE-LP channel 58, (moving to channel 30 soon) as well as cable and satellite outlets.
As of June 18, 2006, it is unconfirmed whether KWDK channel 56 is permanently off the air as an analog station, or that KWDK-DT channel 42 is currently broadcasting in digital. If this is so, it would make KWDK-DT the first digital-only broadcaster in the Seattle area.
