KXMX
Encyclopedia : K : KX : KXM : KXMX
KXMX is a multi-ethnic AM radio station licensed to Anaheim, California, and broadcasting at a frequency of 1190.
KXMX was originally the call sign of an adult contemporary station at 95.9 FM. When that outlet became KFSH (the Fish) in 2001, the calls were re-assigned to 1190 AM.
Among the languages of shows on KXMX are Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. It can be thought of as a radio version of KSCI television.
Ownership is in the hands of Salem Communications as a sister station to KRLA 870 AM, KKLA 99.5 FM, and of course KFSH. Salem bought KFSH and KXMX, as well as 1240 AM KEZY, from Clear Channel Communications in 1997; Clear Channel had exceeded the limit of the number of stations it could own in the greater Los Angeles area when it bought Jacor.
