Encyclopedia : K : KA : KAN : Kaïn

Kaïn is a folk rock group from Drummondville, Quebec.

History

By 2001, they already had several songs, and won the Bandeàpart.fm prize at the Granby Festival in 2001, allowing them to travel to France for promotion.

Their first album, Pop Culture, was released on February 3, 2004. The first single, Parle Moi D'Toi, was a success, and the album debuted in the top 15 francophone albums in Quebec upon its release, and stayed in the top 30 for 10 straight weeks. It ended up being named a finalist in the Best Rock Album category at the ADISQ gala in 2004.

Their second album was called Nulle Part Ailleurs, and was released May 3, 2005. It included the single Embarque Ma Belle, which was a radio hit that summer.

The name Kaïn was derived from Cain, the son of Adam and Eve in the Bible, who killed his brother Abel.
