Kaczawa

Encyclopedia : K : KA : KAC : Kaczawa

The Kaczawa (-Polish, German: Katzbach) is a small river in the Lower Silesian Voivodship in Poland. It springs from the Bóbr-Kaczawa Mountains near Kaczorów and flows north and northeast through the towns of Świerzawa, Złotoryja, and Legnica. After a length of 98 km the Kaczawa empties into the Odra river at Prochowice.

The Kaczawa between Legnica and Legnickie Pole was the site of the Battle of Katzbach on 26 August 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars.
