Kalayaan is a 5th class municipality in the province of Palawan, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 223 people in 12 households.
Kalayaan is composed of only 1 barangay, Pag-Asa.
History
In July 1956, the Philippine citizen Thomas Cloma set up a "Kalayaan Protectorate" with a capital at Pag-Asa after Japan had dropped all claims to the area in 1946. The Philippines took control of Cloma's protectorate in 1978.[link]See also
