Kalush (Ukrainian: Калуш, Polish: Kalusz, Yiddish קאַלוש, translit. Kalush or Kalish) is a city set in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (province) in western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Kalusky Raion (district). Incorporated in 1939, the city lies near the oblast capital, Ivano-Frankivsk, formerly part of Austria-Hungary and Poland.

The current estimated population is around 63,800 (as of 2004).

From the 16th Century, there has been a strong Jewish presence in the city, but in 1941, it was "ethnically cleansed" by the Nazis. [1]

It is a sister city to Grand Prairie, TX. [2]
