Karakoram House

One of the eight hostels for male students at IIT Delhi, named after the Karakoram peak in the Himalayas. It is one of the four hostels (the other three being Nilgiri House, Aravali House and Jwalamukhi House) built in a distinct cross--shaped floor plan.
Art and Architecture
- Triangular pyramidal windows projecting out from rooms.
- Wall--size windows in the mess hall and other common areas.
- Portrait of the dancing couple in the mess hall.
Check Marks
Check Marks, the only stationery and utility store of IIT campus, is located in the eastward projecting leg of Karakoram. Tiwari ji, the proprietor has been welcoming freshers and sending graduating batches packing.
Notable Members
- Professor S N Maheshwari occupied Room D-12 as an undergraduate student. He served as Dean of Undergraduate Studies (-2001) a prominent figure of the IIT Delhi administration.
Common Room
Achievements:
1.Karakoram hostel was awarded best hostel championship in session 2005-2006.2.Karakoram hostel stood first in BRCA events in session 2005-2006 and thus won prestigious BRCA trophy.
3.In session 2005-2006 krakoram stood first in BHM events and second in BSP events.
Mess
karakoram's mess is one of the best mess in IITD.It also has surround music system.Links
