Katagiri Katsumoto

(1556-1615) was an elite retainer under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, known as one of the "Seven Spears of Shizugatake". At one time, he served under Azai Nagamasa, and went on to serve under Hideyoshi, after the Battle of Anegawa. He attempted to settle differences between Hideyoshi's son, Toyotomi Hideyori, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, after the death of his lord Hideyoshi. In the end, however, he was expelled from the Osaka Castle.
