Kayte Lauren Christensen (born November 16,1980 in Lakeview, Oregon) is an American professional basketball player who has competed internationally and for a short while played for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Early Career
Kayte attended Modoc High School in Alturas, California graduating in 1998. That year, her varsity girls basketball team won the California Interscholastic Federation State Division V Championship.Kayte attended college at UC Santa Barbara University and attended the same classes as fellow WNBA player Lindsay Taylor. She was Santa Barbara's all-time career field goal leader. She also ranks among the top ten in rebounds and blocked shots.
WNBA
In her four seasons in the WNBA, Christensen holds career averages of 3.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.75 steals. Christensen was selected by Phoenix Mercury in the third round (40th overall) of the 2002 WNBA Draft.She would later sign with the Houston Comets on March 242006, and waived until May 19 when she failed to make the regular-season roster.
