Kazuo Koike

Kazuo Koike (小池一夫 Koike Kazuo, born May 8, 1936 in Daisen, Akita Prefecture -) is a manga-ka.
Koike, along with artist Goseki Kojima, made the manga Kozure Okami (Lone Wolf and Cub), and Koike was also responsible for that series' film adaptation. Koike and Kojima became known as the "Golden Duo" because of the success of Lone Wolf and Cub.
Koike's other series, Crying Freeman, which he made along with artist Ryoichi Ikegami, was given a Hollywood adaptation.
Kazuo Koike started the Gekika Sonjuku, a college course meant to teach people how to be manga-ka.

- Kozure Okami (Lone Wolf and Cub), along with Goseki Kojima 28 Volumes (1970-1976) published in English translation by Dark Horse Comics
- Kubikiri Asa (Samurai Executioner), also along with Goseki Kojima 10 Volumes (1972-1976) published in English translation by Dark Horse Comics
- Hanzo no Mon (Path of the Assassin), along with Goseki Kojima 15 Volumes (1978-1984) published in English translated by Dark Horse Comics
- The script to the 1973 film Lady Snowblood, along with Kazuo Uemura
- The manga series Lady Snowblood (currently published in English translation by Dark Horse Comics).
