Biography
Kobayashi attended Tokyo Music Academy, and rose to international fame as winner of the 1st International Conductors Competition on Hungarian television in 1974. Since then he has been at the head of some of the most famous orchestras in Germany, Austria and Britain. He was the first conductor of the Hungarian State Symphony (since renamed National Philharmonic Orchestra) from 1984, and is currently first conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.|- style="text-align: center;"
