Khia Chambers (born Khia Shamone Finch in November 1970) is a rapper and producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has had only one commercially successful single as of 2006, "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)".

Early life

Chambers was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Tampa, Florida. She first wanted to be a musical performer in her early years while attending school talent shows and taking part in parades. After studying tap dancing and bartending in a Tampa Bay hot spot, she became acquainted with several DJs and producers from the area which led her to getting a record deal.

Thug Misses

In March 2002, she released her debut album, Thug Misses and the album's first single "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" became a smash hit. The video was edited in order to play on networks such as BET and for radio due to the hardcore explicit lyrics in which Khia demanded men performing oral sex on the vulva and buttocks. An urban legend was circulated that Khia had been killed by her boyfriend, but she publicly appeared to clear the air and blamed her former label for the rumors. The label also posted old mug shots of her from her days in Tampa. Khia was scheduled to release her second album Street Preacher in 2003, but it never was released.

Gangstress

Khia's second album Gangstress was released Summer 2006[link] via her own independent record label Thug Misses Entertainment (or T.M.E. Records). The first single off the album is entitled "Snatch The Cat Back" and has received airplay in the southeastern region of America. Two producers, one from Macon, Georgia, helped develop background instrumentals or "beats" for the 2006 project, but all lyrics have been written by the self-proclaimed "Queen of the South" herself. Continuing the trend of independence in her music, Khia declined a request to appear as a "Feature" on Trina's latest album but said[link] she would consider working with Lil Wayne who was featured on Trina's 2005 album Glamorest Life and Trick Daddy, an artist she admires. In an interview at [UrbanFans.com], Khia stated that there will be no collaborations on her album because she firmly believes that she does not need anybody's assistance in selling her material.

Khia will be on a song with Janet Jackson called "So Excited" that will be featured be on Jackson's album "20 Years Old".

\"Queen Of The South\" controversy

After gaining success over seas, Khia returned to the States refreshed. She started referring to herself as the Queen Of The South. Khia reported has lost 50 pounds in order to sell image as a sexier female rapper in the vein of peers such as Lil' Kim, Foxy Brown, Trina, and Eve.

There has been an issue with her and fellow Florida native and rapper Jacki-O. Though Khia says there's no "beef", and the only reason people say there is conflict is because both women claim to be the Queen Of The South. Khia says she has sold more albums and has a larger fan base so she is the Queen Of The South, though no one other than herself acknowlegdes that.
