Kilusang Bagong Lipunan

Encyclopedia : K : KI : KIL : Kilusang Bagong Lipunan

The Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (New Society Movement) is a political party in the Philippines. It was formed in 1978, as an "umbrella" coalition of parties supporting former President Ferdinand E. Marcos for the Interim Batasang Pambansa (National Assembly), and was his political vehicle during his rule.

There are no results available of the last elections for the House of Representatives, but according to the website of the House, the party holds 1 out of 235 seats (state of the parties, june 2005). The seat belongs to Rep. Imee Marcos of Ilocos Norte, who is the daughter of the former president. The party still enjoys great support in President Marcos' home province of Ilocos Norte, but retains little outside of it.
