Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble

Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble is a Game Boy Color video game made by Nintendo that features a built-in tilt sensor. As with all Game Boy Color games, the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, and Game Boy Player can play it as well (though there are some limitations with the Game Boy Advance SP, see below). The goal of the game is to guide Kirby to the level's goal within the allotted time by physically tilting the Game Boy in the direction in which the player wishes to move him. The game registers a "pop" action when the player quickly jerks the Game Boy in the vertical direction; doing so will jerk Kirby into the air. The game revolves around the collection of the numerous stars strewn about the levels. To beat the game entirely, one must collect each level's secret star.
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble also features five minigames, including Kirby's Chicken Race and Kirby's Burst-a-Balloon, each of which uses the tilt sensor in some way.
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble does not work properly on Game Boy Advance SP because, due to the consoles' design, the cartridge must be inserted upside-down, thereby reversing the orientation of the tilt sensor.
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble did not sell as well as Nintendo anticipated. As a result, Nintendo abandoned production of Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble 2, originally planned for GameCube using the GBA-to-GameCube cable. Also, Banjo-Pilot was going to use the tilt sensor when it was in production as Diddy Kong Pilot but Rare (the game's developer) abandoned that aspect of the project.
Trivia
- Due to the cancellation of the Game Boy Color remake of Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble was the only Kirby game to come out on the system.
