Kit-Kat Crescent
Encyclopedia : K : KI : KIT : Kit-Kat Crescent
Kit-Kat Crescent (formerly Bootham Crescent) is the stadium of English football team York City F.C.. The stadium is small by most standards, having capacity (seating and standing) for only 9000 supporters. The ground first staged league football in 1929, but York were relegated from the Football League in 2004 and now play in the Nationwide Conference.
The name change from 'Bootham' to 'Kit-Kat' was the result of a sponsorship deal with Rowntree-Nestlé, the inventor of the Kit-Kat and a major employer in York.
York City F.C. are currently hoping to relocate to a new 15,000-seat stadium in the city, as Kit-Kat Crescent is in a confined location and expansion is virtually impossible. They hope to move to the new stadium by 2015.
