Koji Igarashi

Koji Igarashi (also known simply by his nickname of IGA) is a Konami employee and the current producer of the Castlevania video game series. He is most known for directing ' and producing '.

In 2001, Igarashi removed certain Castlevania games from the Castlevania timeline much to the disappointment and outrage of many long time fans of those games. These include Castlevania Legends, Castlevania 64, ', and '. Although he stated his reasonings for removing the games was intended to clean up the Castlevania continuity, there are many who question Igarashi’s motives and revisionist history, especially when he took the liberty and wrote the beginning of the entire Belmont history with .

Despite some criticisms for his streamlining the timeline, fans have also praised him for his continued support of the 2D gaming platform as demonstrated by the numerous Nintendo handheld Castlevania releases, as well as his continued efforts at trying to re-release Akumajou Dracula X Chi no Rondo - an exclusive Japan-only game that is widely regarded as the holy grail of the series.
