Players like Lorik Cana, Shefki Kuqi, Armend Dallku, Debatik Curri, Besnik Hasi, Mehmet Dragusha, Haxhi Zeka - the top goalscorer in Kosovo League with 31 goals, would be elegible for the Kosovo Team.
The current Kosovo National Team coach is Muharem Sahiti. With his leadership, Kosovo beat Monaco National Team in Monaco 7-1. Sahiti declared: “I am very pleased with the team’s performance even though we had predicted a stronger opponent. However, I want to emphasize that our players have been fantastic. The fact that we do not play many international matches may have inspired the players to give it their all this time”.
Kosovo National Team would take place in Euro 2008 qualification as Montenegro, but the status negotiations are not completed, so are more likely to make their first appearance in an international competition in the 2010 World Cup
Kosovo played 5 international matches, the latest result being a win of 7-1 against Monaco.
In the past, Kosovo have played 2 games against Albania, losing both of them 1-0. They also played Turkey twice, where they won one game and lost one. Kosovo won 3-0 and lost 2-1 in same stadium, but different date. The games, however, were played with a team of 34-35 years old seniors. Turkey and Algeria played with second team team.
The Kosova National Team wears red & black shirt colors, similar to the Albanian National Team shirts, but with different designs. After 2008, they will wear red & blue shirt colors and white shorts.
