Kudara no Konikishi
Encyclopedia : K : KU : KUD : Kudara no Konikishi
The Kudara no Kinokishi (Japanese: ) was a Japanese clan whose founder was Zenkō (善光 or 禅広), a son of the last kind of Baekje, King Uija. Zenkō was given the clan name, Kudara (百済), and kabane, Konikishi (王), by Empress Jito. The kabane of Konikishi, literally meaning "king", was adopted only for this clan. Although most of foreign-originated clans were classified as middle or lower ranks among nobles, this clan was treated as a higher rank noble.
In the beginning of Heian period, the clan was treated warmly as a quasi-"relative by marriage" because Takano no Niigasa, the mother of Emperor Kammu, belonged to another Baekje-originated clan (Yamato clan).
The clan had existed until the middle of the Heian period.
