Kurmanji

Kurmanji (Kurdish: kurmancî, also called Bahdini) is the major Kurdish dialect spoken in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, the ex-Soviet states and by Kurds living in Central Asia. Almost all Kurds speak this dialect. A major sub-dialect of Kurmanji that is widely spoken in Iraqi and Iranian Kurdistan is Soranî, also known as Southern Kurmanji.
- In Turkey: 80% of the Kurds living there.
- *Except for the regions of Elazig, Bingol and Dersim (Tunceli).
- In Syria: All (100 %) the Kurds there.
- In Iraq: 95% of the Kurds in Iraq.
- *In the region of Badinan (cities of Dahuk, Zakho, Amedi, Sinjar, Mosul, Akre, Barzan), Northern Kurmanji is spoken.
- *In the remaining regions (cities of Hawler, Slemani, Kirkuk), Southern Kurmanji or Sorani is spoken.
- In Iran: 90% of the Iranian Kurds.
- *Most Kurds excluding some Kurdish Gorani speaking populations in Southwestern Iran.
- In Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, Russia: All the Kurds
- In Lebanon: All the Kurds there.
- In Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and other Central-Asian states. All Kurds
